Blu Dog II Highlights

Exterior Spaces

Exterior Spaces

The Hylas 54 is unique; the design is meant to be incredibly strong yet eye catching every harbor in the world. She does not sacrifice functionality and will always be known for strength. Hylas 54’s are known for their large aft decks, which can be used as a secondary dining or lounging area. The side decks are also wide and make moving on deck easy even while underway.

Hull & Deck

Hull & Deck

Like all Hylas 54’s Blu Dog has a solid hull that is incredibly strong due to the layup process that includes both fiberglass and Twaron.  The fiberglass Twaron layers make these hulls superior in strength and rigidity to other builds in their class. Blu Dog has an Awl Gripped hull and recent bottom paint. She is also features beautiful teak decks that accentuate her graceful lines.

Interior Spaces

Interior Spaces

The interior of Blu Dog II is unlike any Hylas 54 ever built. She has some of the same characteristics as her sisters, like beautiful woodworking, well-placed hand holds, bright cabins, a long passageway galley and two private heads. However, it is the arrangement of Blu Dog II’s interior that truly make her shine.

Two Cabin Layout

Two Cabin Layout

She has two staterooms and both are fit to be called master cabins. The owners opted to do away with the standard utility third cabin and make the forward cabin as a second master stateroom with an office. Many yachts have a small cramped office but few can boast the large comfortable workspace of Blu Dog II.

Salon

Salon

Blu Dog II has the same salon dimensions and brightness as all other raised salon Hylas 54’s. She features the same large windows that these yachts are famous for. Her bright teak salon sole, soft lighting and matte finished bulkheads make this space inviting on any type of day. Beyond these traditional Hylas features Blu Dog has a soft textured fabric headliner, two large settees with tasteful covers and dimmable overhead lighting. The salon of this Hylas 54 is truly like no other and sets her apart from many of her proud sisters.

All Hylas 54’s are built as center cockpit vessels. This arrangement serves many purposes. The large master cabin with full headroom aft is possible because of the cockpit placement. The cockpit itself has high seat backs giving owners and guest the feeling of safety. An ideal place to stretch out and sleep the cockpit is long and has enough width to be comfortable but not so much that passengers cannot brace themselves while healing. However, this cockpit truly shines for those who love to sail. Trimming is done easily with all the winches easily accessed and visibility from the helm is exceptional.

This Hylas 54’s current owners have continued to upgrade her systems and have worked to keep in top condition. Upon purchasing Blu Dog II her second owners installed all new electronics, cameras and additional lighting. This work, coupled with continued scheduled maintenance make this Hylas 54 the best offering on the market today.

It is plain to see upon going below that during the build and subsequent ownership of this Hylas 54 every detail was carefully considered. Her Euro styled headliner and complimentary color salon settees made from different fabrics, speak to the detail of this superior Hylas 54.
