The Royal Blue Highlights
The owners of The Royal Blue previously owned a Hylas 54. Moving from the Hylas 54 to the Hylas 70 gave them more interior space, faster sailing and, perhaps most notably, a much larger cockpit. The center cockpit is comfortable for entertaining many guests and features a large opening teak table. The twin helms are just aft of the main cockpit, helping the sail work and operation of the vessel to be enjoyed seamlessly with guests wanting to relax.
Sailing in the skinny waters of the Bahamas, FL Keys, or the Chesapeake usually means sacrificing the amenities and sailing characteristics offered by larger yachts. Shoal draft vessels are generally smaller vessels that are more comfortable for weekending and shorter trips. The Royal Blue, however, was designed to be a powerful and comfortable sailing yacht. To balance her shoal draft she has a carbon rig which helps her perform well, even with much less draft than her sisters. At 70 feet, The Royal Blue offers every comfort while not sacrificing fantastic and safe sailing. A truly remarkable combination.
Every vessel, from classic wooden tender to superyacht, should be judged on her details. The details separate sisterships, and discerning yachtsmen and women recognize this. The owners of The Royal Blue made every effort to create the best Hylas 70 they could by paying attention to details that others may overlook. A true Pullman cabin to port, salon tables that easily convert from coffee to dining tables, incredible engine access, elegant soft goods, shoal draft, a carbon rig, and her impeccable condition all speak to how carefully every detail was considered during the building of The Royal Blue.
All 70 foot boats are not created equal. The Royal Blue has a voluminous interior, but she is well-proportioned and one never feels as though they are in a cavern or unsafe. The remarkably unblemished teak feels familiar and comfortable to sailors and guests alike. A large master cabin invites owners to live comfortably onboard. Her long galley allows for multiple people to work side by side while creating the next meal or just grabbing something from one of the state-of-the-art fridge drawers. The Royal Blue is comfortable under sail or on the hook, and her interior spaces will not leave anyone wanting for more.
